Directory ∙ MyListing / Elementor
As a customer of this theme, we have made a point of deep diving into how it works, what it’s capabilities are, in an attempt to not only support ourselves but to support the MyListing community.
We built this website with permission from the MyListing team, pro bono, as a way to show the world what is possible with this theme. The more the MyListing community thrives as a whole, the better the theme will be, as well as it’s longevity.
MyListing is a premium WordPress theme, that focuses on directory listing websites. That said, MyListing is extremely versatile and has been used to build all types of websites.
We are big fans of MyListing because of how it eliminates the need to couple together many different solutions in order to get the same result.
MyListing is has positioned itself to be around for the long haul, with the decision to integrate with WooCommerce and Elementor’s page builder plugin.
Using nothing more than the theme itself and the Elementor page builder plugin, a portfolio directory was created.
An “explore” page (Showcase) is used to provide search, filtering, and map location functionality for each portfolio listing. This not only allows existing MyListing customers to get inspired, but it also shows potential MyListing customers what is possible.
Any design gaps were filled in using Elementor Pro and hand-coded CSS.
MyListing comes bundled with the Contact Form 7 plugin. While the plugin is widely-used in the WordPress community, its install numbers of dropping due to its clunky interface, its loading of assets (CSS and JS) on every post/page, and because there are better solutions out there.
Using Elementor Pro’s form widget, we were able to reproduce the functionality of Contact Form 7, as it relates to the MyListing theme. This reproduction allowed us to remove Contact Form 7 from the website altogether.
