In today’s post, I address a significant issue with the Elementor plugin that has been a source of ongoing frustration. This will be the final attempt to get some sort of resolution before my livestream with Matt Medeiros on this topic on Tuesday at noon EST.
Disclaimer
I’m not an Elementor hater. In fact, Elementor’s very own Head of WordPress Relations (Miriam S.) stated in a podcast where we both appeared, “I can see your frustrations come from a point of caring.”
The Issue at Hand
Elementor’s AI feature has been causing problems for many WordPress users, especially agencies like mine. The AI feature has broken sites, slowed them down, and generally interfered with operations.
Despite repeated complaints, Elementor has not provided an option to remove or disable this feature.
A Quick Recap
I previously documented these issues on GitHub, hoping for some resolution. The AI feature interferes with site performance, and clients frequently seek help removing it.
Elementor’s changelogs confirm these issues, yet the company has refused to acknowledge the problem as a bug. Instead, they label it a “feature.”
The Company’s Stance
Elementor’s support team has repeatedly gaslighted me by saying not to use GitHub for complaints or feature requests, even though the problem disrupts site functionality. They directed me to file a complaint or request a feature.
As I’ve shown in other posts and videos covering this topic, filing a feature request is a non-starter. Let’s move on.
Test and Demonstration
I accessed Elementor’s settings and deactivated the AI feature to demonstrate that Elementor’s AI persists and cannot be entirely removed from Elementor-based WordPress websites.
As you’ll later see in my video, even Elementor’s support initially offered the wrong advice, demonstrating they need help understanding their product or at least this portion.
Filing a Complaint
Following the advice of an Elementor support representative, I contacted their support team to file a formal complaint. After providing all the necessary information, Elementor support kept stalling and provided ineffective responses.
Elementor’s Response
The support team insisted that the inability to disable the AI feature was by design, as they are promoting it to customers. No kidding! I never would have guessed that. SMH.
Conclusion
Elementor support’s handling of this AI complaint was as expected and predicted at the beginning of the video I recorded.
Despite being a paying customer, I’ve received no practical support and no hope that the issue will ever be addressed. This issue should have been acknowledged and resolved long ago.
Join us Tuesday at noon EST for a live discussion with Matt Madeiros, where we’ll delve deeper into this issue. This will be an opportunity to shed light on the situation and push for change.
